Wk 8 – Activity – ePortfolio

During the years I lived in Orange County, I was able to find my release through playing music and going to hardcore/punk rock shows. It was through this community that I grew to appreciate music as an art as well as an outlet. Recently, I feel like the alternative music scene has been falling off the map and I would like to give it the recognition it deserves. This is where my ePortfolio comes in.

For this week’s ePortfolio activity, I wanted to turn my WordPress page into an alternative music blog. I hope to post about some of my favorite bands, upcoming local shows around LA/Orange County, and even a few of my personally recorded songs.

My blog had a straight-to-the-point modern black and white theme before. For the new ePortfolio page, I decided to go with a warm orange theme to match the header image of my favorite band Have Heart.

Up and Coming Bands

Stanley & the Search

Los Angeles, CA

I also wanted to recognize my cousin’s band, Post Season. He introduced me to the alternative music scene and motivated me to continue playing music. Post Season is based in Pennsylvania and have gone on a couple full U.S tours. If you like pop punk bands such as New Found Glory and Blink 182, you might enjoy their stuff. Here’s one of their songs (Warning: some explicit language):

Shows to Catch

Self-Recorded Song

I’ve been trying to get back into writing new music, but school and work have been keeping me too busy. Here’s an instrumental version of an unfinished song I recorded with a friend during my senior year of high school.

Here are the before and after images of my blog. (FYI, I’m technologically challenged and never figured out how to screencap on my laptop.)

Here’s how it looks on a phone screen.
