This past week I interviewed a couple artists. Their names were Sophia and Yee. They are both art students here at CSULB. Sophia has graduated and it is Yee’s last semester here.
Their art pieces were abstract, chaotic, and had a lot of geometric shapes. I asked if they were trying to portray anything and they told me that they weren’t. Yee mentioned that she was simply trying to express her anxiety through the artwork, but wanted the audience to interpret the art their own way. Both of them said the paintings revolved around the theme of stress, depression, and anxiety. They mentioned that this was portrayed with the help of color scheme as well as the chaotic and unorganized structure.
The gallery room consisted of the art of 3 artists but I was only able to speak to two of them.
